atNorth Expands to Norway with New Mega Site in Haugaland
Nordic data center provider atNorth has announced its expansion into Norway with the acquisition of land for a mega data center site in Haugaland. The move marks a significant milestone for the company, establishing its presence across all Nordic countries.
The 36-hectare plot within Haugaland Business Park will be the location for atNorth’s new planned data center, designated NOR01. The facility is designed to support high-density workloads and hyperscale deployments, with initial phases delivering 120MW and capacity to ramp up to 350MW.
Power availability for the site is projected for 2028, supported by the construction of two substations — one developed by Statnett, Norway’s transmission system operator, and one by Fagne, the regional grid provider. atNorth is also actively exploring heat reuse opportunities in partnership with local stakeholders within the business park.

Norway’s appeal for large-scale data center development is driven by its predominantly renewable energy mix, political and economic stability, low-latency connectivity to European and global markets, and a cool climate that reduces the need for mechanical cooling.
NOR01 is designed to serve data-intensive workloads including machine learning, artificial intelligence, and private and public cloud platforms. At full capacity, the site is expected to employ around 200 people, including in-house data center technicians and electricians as well as contractors.
The announcement follows a series of recent atNorth expansions, including a mega site in Solleftå, Sweden, metro sites in Sweden and Finland, and expansion of two facilities in Iceland.
